Helping people to make sense of OA and what to do about it

This workshop will help you to develop knowledge and skills to support people to make sense of osteoarthritis and the management options available to them. It will provide you the skills to support people with osteoarthritis to engage in helpful behaviours, participate in valued activities, and achieve their goals.

The workshop will be based around five key actions for clinicians:

  1. Recognise biases, beliefs, and context.
  2. Co-learn with, from, and about each other.
  3. Provide consistency in words, actions, and behaviours.
  4. Strengthen beliefs that encourage participation.
  5. Co-create relevant goals and plans to achieve goals.

Workshop participants are expected to complete online modules 1 to 4 at: https://www.freefromkneepain.org/resources/kneecaps-clinician-training in preparation for the workshop.

The workshop will be delivered over two days.

  • Day One will focus on initial exposure and skill development and there will be the option to participate via Teams.
